Tenor Jess Muñoz performs “Imitació del Foc”(Imitation of fire) in his Mid-West Tour Spring 2018

Imitació del Foc (Imitation of Fire) is a song-cycle commissioned by tenor Jess Muñoz, He will premiere this song cycle on March 12 at the University of Delaware in a program dedicated to Catalonian and Latin American women composers. Additional concerts will be presented throughout the Spring of 2018, and it  will be recorded on CD in August of 2018, along other music by Catalonian composers, including  Toldra and Mompou.  At the moment some of the concerts include Mansfield University of Pennsylvania (March 19), Central Michigan University (March 29),  Michigan State (March 31) , Indiana University -South Bend (May 2), Taylor University (May 3), Market Street Music Concert Series (April 26),  Barcelona Festival of Song in Catalunya (April 26) and two more concerts in the Spring of 2019.

Imitació del Foc is based on poetry by Mallorquin poet Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel (1913-1938). It includes four poems: I. Inici de campana (Quadern de sonets); II.Escolto la secreta… (from Imitacio del Foc, ‘Arbre de Flames’); III. Pluja brodada (Imitacio del foc, ‘Fira encesa’); and IV. Ardent himne (Imitacio del foc, ‘Arbre de Flames’).
